What we do

we build south central Iowa

WE BUILD SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA. BY PARTNERING WITH OUR AFFILIATED CONTRACTORS, WE PROVIDE PROJECT OWNERS WITH THE MOST DEPENDABLE AND PROFESSIONAL BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION WORKFORCE IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA.

The mission of the South Central Iowa State Building and Construction Trades Council is to improve the health, jobs, safety and economic conditions of the members of its affiliates, and all workers in the construction industry.

The Iowa Building Trades has 19 affiliated unions from a variety of different construction craft unions, and numerous affiliated Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs) that are responsible for training apprentices and providing journeyman upgrade training throughout our jurisdiction.

Our AFFILIATED UNIONS represent highly-skilled and highly-trained skilled tradespeople working across South Central Iowa. We are committed to getting the job done, with an inclusive, diverse workforce.

Members of our affiliated local unions train through rigorous apprenticeship programs that prepare them for any project and provide rewarding lifelong CAREERS. For over 100 years, we have been the foundation of the construction industry in Iowa. We take proud in working with our signatory contractors to advance training in our industry and to retain the safest, most skilled and trained workforce available.
